The Emergence of Application Deep Linking

Application deep linking has been making a lot of noise since Apple’s announcement that users searching through Apple Search (the collective name for Siri, Spotlight and Safari search) on iOS9 devices could be prompted with specific in-app screen results, as well as offers to download said apps. This feature doesn’t only exist in the Apple ecosystem, however: Google also offers deep linking, so long as the app’s content is also featured and indexable online.

Considering the feature’s advanced capabilities such as app-to-app and web-to-app linking, deep linking can allow publishers and brands to offer site visitors an opportunity to take action in their own apps. These developments have also created new opportunities to market to mobile devices, as well as increasing brand visibility  while maximizing lifetime value for existing consumers.
