Yahoo Looking to Grow Search Revenue with Google Partnership


On October 19th 2015, Yahoo and Google agreed to a deal that will allow Google to power search on Yahoo. Given that they can rely on its own search technology, as well as their recent partnership with Microsoft’s Bing, Yahoo will now have much flexibility in sourcing their ads.

As it looks to generate more revenue from search, but doesn’t have the infrastructure to do efficiently, with this move Yahoo can narrow its focus to improving its core capabilities with minimal sacrifices. We consider what this means for Yahoo’s future as a service and business, and offer marketers our advice on how to navigate the ramifications of the deal.
